Our Story
Engineering services that are truly a service
Our company was founded by engineers with strong automotive software and electronics development backgrounds. After pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors outside of the mainstream automotive industry for nearly a decade, they developed a strong understanding of the realities of ECU development in a startup environment. These combined experiences led to the notion their big business background could be combined with their entrepreneurial experience, in order to help customers take their ECU development efforts to the next level. Since our founding, we’ve helped other small businesses, as well as Fortune 500 companies, achieve their ECU development goals.

How we got here
2021 & Beyond
Product Development
Hybrid Controls has developed a strong engineering services business, but we see an opportunity to reach more customers through the development of innovative rapid prototyping ECUs, as well as off-the-shelf software libraries for the GTM. These products are currently under development, and they will help to lead our company into the next phase of its history. During this phase, we are still certainly continuing to engage in customer-specific ECU development projects, as well.
2019
Hybrid Controls Vietnam Founded
To expand our reach outside GTM software, we desired to develop full platform software packages for automotive MCUs. Vietnam has an exceptional talent pool for embedded software engineering, specifically at the platform software level. As a result, we formed Hybrid Controls Vietnam in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, in order to combine our high quality GTM offering with high quality platform software at the strongest value for our customers. Moreover, this enabled us to support our customers with a global reach, on a 24-hour development cycle.
2016
Services Expand
On the strength of our 12-cylinder ECU project, we realized our GTM experience was unique in the industry. During this phase, we established several strong relationships with large publicly traded companies to handle their GTM software development in some cases, as well as training services in other cases.
2014
First Major ECU Project Awarded
Based upon our successes in small business endeavors, we were awarded a project to build a highly flexible 12 cylinder diesel powertrain control unit. Not only did this unit have 435 connector pins, but it was a full AUTOSAR project as well. Our company designed the electronic hardware for this ECU, as well as many of the complex device drivers that comprise the platform software. This also included our first development effort for the Bosch Generic Timer Module in its v1 form.
2010
Company Founded
During this phase, our company was organized and focused on helping companies apply off-the-shelf ECUs, along with industry standard tools, to create robust complex control systems. Many of our projects focused on helping customers apply ETAS ASCET to off-the-shelf ECUs, while using ETAS INCA to calibrate and measure their system.
